Three Day Photography Tour of London…

London is quite simply one of the most photogenic, urban landscapes in the world. The Romans established the foothold of Londinium on the banks of the River Thames, in AD43 and from those humble beginnings, London remains one of the most iconic capital cities in the World.  With the city's life blood quite literally, flowing through the heart of the capital, throughout history a world leader in trade and export and today, a mecca for tourists and togs!  In every direction and around every corner, a photographic opportunity awaits, no matter what time of the day or night or season, the river never fails to deliver with its seemingly endless bounty of brilliant architecture and urban delight, spanning hundreds of years from Greenwich in the east to Chelsea in the west.

Terry and I have designed this tour so that you can spend as much time as possible, all within easy reach of some of the iconic sites and locations. Based in a great 4 star hotel, we are a stone's throw away from our main mode of transport for this tour, the River Boat. From here we have access to some real gems along the Thames such as the Naval College, Greenwich Park and the fabulous Queen's House. Greenwich Peninsula and the exciting Emirates Cable Car. The Royal Docks, Thames Barrier, Battersea Power Station, Canary Wharf, and Wapping to name just a few...

We'll spend the days meandering at a leisurely pace to as many locations as possible, utilising the River Boat, the DLR and occasionally the Tube to get us where we need to be. In the evening, when the Capital lights up, Terry and I will take you to some special locations, and help you get to grips with night photography.

On our last afternoon together, we have organised lunch and a space at the hotel where we can go through some basic processing skills, image critique etc. We thought this would be a nice way to end the tour before we say our goodbyes.

By keeping the group size at 6-8 people ensures that everyone will receive the one to one attention they deserve. Terry and I will use all our knowledge and experience to get you to some of the best locations along the river, in the best light and at the right time of day. We'll be there, right by your side to offer as much guidance and support as you need so all you have to do is focus on your photography and let your creativity take over!

Charlotte and Terry are such good workshop leaders.

Though getting up at 4.30 is not my forte I would not have missed it for anything. I loved all the locations and they were all so different, presenting different photographical challenges. I was so delighted with my images. Charlotte and Terry are such good workshop leaders. They have obviously researched the locations and know them really well. They give a good overview of possibilities in the location and are always available to give advice (or hold umbrellas) but leave everyone free to explore the area in the own way. And they don’t take their own cameras which is a plus point for many people I know. The accommodation was really comfortable and conveniently located and they managed to round up a great lot of people. What more could anyone want in a workshop.

Stunning London locations!

Whether you are a seasoned photographer or a novice you will love this workshop with Charlotte & Terry. They will take you to stunning London locations (some well known & some hidden treasures) to get the best light & the most perfect views.Help & guidance with technique & composition is always on hand but if you know what you’re doing & don’t need advice, that’s fine too. Our group, who had never met before, got on so well that we’re planning to meet for Gems 2, the reunion in 2019. The workshop was great – I loved making new friends; learning new skills from Charlotte, Terry & the other Gem participants & seeing my photography in a new perspective. If you book this Gems tour you will not be disappointed, I guarantee it.

We consider that this trip was one of the best we have ever been on…
Jane and I would like to record our very grateful thanks for an excellent workshop weekend which ran most smoothly thanks to your extensive preplanning. We thoroughly enjoyed it and know that your skills were recognised by all attendees. VERY WELL DONE.
Looking back through our images we realise that you took us to some very special places which we would never have found by ourselves. We certainly recognise the rich range of photographic opportunities you laid on for us.
— Ken & Jane
Thanks so much Charlotte. I honestly thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. I thought the location choices were great, lots of opportunities for pics. Well paced in terms of timings. I have to say that I was really disappointed that I had to head early for the train as the image review session was fasinating but a combination of early train times and the transport challenges had me a little bit worried. Best wishes and thanks again to both Terry and you for an excellent weekend.

Thanks guys for such a wonderful weekend in the big smoke..... what a treat and such super locations.... not forced into the same tripod holes, just right..... I am not firing on all cylinders yet but you made it easy.... Heidi the tripod is a bit of a monster, bless you both for carrying her! .... and what a lovely friendly bunch the rest of the group were 😀 Count me in for future stuff!

Dear Charlotte & Terry
Thank you both again for a really super workshop - your planning & arrangements were excellent - absolutely faultless.
I would love to do another workshop with you - but if I don’t I will have wonderful memories of your ‘Gems’. I particularly wanted to do another London one - it is 4 years since the last with Terry & Doug - I have known that part of the city off & on since 1960 so seeing the continuing changes is fascinating and quite frightening!! Will they never stop building?!!
— Judy
Hi Charlotte
The tour for me was a resounding success, very well organised and great locations.
You and Terry make a great team and the group were brilliant.
Really looking forward to Venice! Once again thank you for a great tour.

A perfect gem of a weekend!
Spending photography time with Charlotte and Terry is precious.
The pace is set to suit each individual person.
We visited special places that are not on the main tourist route.
Not one minute is wasted yet you feel that there is no rush.
A weekend to remember with 2 great photographers who share their knowledge generously, and a group of lovely people who have become new friends.
Thanks again.
— Lesley
